Try to start up from macOS Recovery

If your Mac seems to be turned on but nothing appears on your display, determine whether you're using a Mac with Apple silicon, then follow the appropriate steps:

Use Disk Utility to repair your startup disk

  1. Hi, I've installed Office 2016 for Business on a users Mac running Yosemite 10.10.5 but Office won't activate with the users credentials, when I enter a password in the sign on page it won't proceed.

I really think Office 2016 is a joy to use, and is a very Mac-like experience for the most part. It's far better than the old Office 2011, which felt like it was designed in the early 1990s. The free update is available from Microsoft AutoUpdate within Office 2016 for Mac, or the Microsoft Download Center, and requires OS X Yosemite 10.10 or later and a valid Office 365 subscription.

If your Mac successfully started up from macOS Recovery, you should see a utilities window that includes Disk Utility. Use Disk Utility to repair your startup disk.

If Disk Utility found no errors, reinstall macOS.
