Hope the disposal installation went well. Tangelo did a great job describing the installation process and the differences between the Badger and Evolution series disposers. My name is Tom, known here in the community as HD116 and I have faced this issue involving a specialty door closer in the past.

What you are dealing with is a specialty closer that is designed for a screen room/lanai application. There is not enough surface on the trim to allow a traditional, jamb mounted bracket to be installed. This application requires a bracket that can be fastened on the narrow portion of the trim. For more stability, they use both surfaces as fastening points.

  1. Touch n’ Hold Smooth Closer by Greenstar There are plenty of choices to try out, and all of them are designed to withstand the strong forces of wind storms. You’ll be able to try out concealed, spring, and overhead door closers to figure out which one will fit your house the best.
  2. With door tightly closed, hold closer and door bracket against the door in a level position, mark and drill two 1/8” pilot holes. CAUTION; do not drill througl› tl›e door. Fasten door bracl‹et to door with the (2) 5/8” screws (if installing into Active’s new 2” wireable push bar use the (2) 3/8” screws.

  4. 1.) Open the storm door and use the hold-open washer or push-button on your closer to hold the panel in the open position. Note: Storm door with single or double standard closer kit use the hold-open washer while storm door with a single push-button closer or a double door closer kit (one push-button closer and one standard closer) do not use hold-open washer.
